This Road was named after the Aitken brothers who had a sawmill on this road from 1943 to 1980. Ray Aitken, 1902-1995, came to Chilliwack with his parents to thier first home on Chapman Road. He established Aitken Brothers Sawmill with his brothers Alvin and Ted in the 1920s. In the 1940s he went into partnership with his brother Alvin and brother-in-law Bob MacGregor to form Chilliwack Sawmills Ltd. at the corner of Wolfe Road and Chilliwack Mountain Roads. Aitken Road, which is south of the original Mill road, is named for the family. Ray was foreman on the Rosedale end of the dyke during 1948 flood. Ray was one of the persons responsible for starting the first museum in Chilliwack between 1973-1979. He was active in Cooke’s Presbyterian Church.
