A.D. Rundle Middle School was named in 1966 after the well-respected community leader, Arthur Douglas Rundle. Rundle moved to Chilliwack in 1924, the youngest son of Rev. and Mrs. Rundle of Vancouver.
Rundle joined the Fraser Valley Milk Producer’s Association (FVMPA) as a member in 1927, and shortly thereafter served as President of the Fairfield Island local of the FVMPA. He served the FVMPA for a total of 47 years, from 1927 to 1974, including 19 years as a Director, and 8 years as Vice-President from 1966 to 1974.
Rundle’s passion for local agriculture was matched by his commitment and dedication to local education. In 1938 he was elected to the Municipal school board where he served for eight years, from 1938 to 1946, before being elected as the first chairman of the new Chilliwack School District, No. 33, where he served for twenty-one years.
