Promontory Heights Elementary School was named after the community of Promontory, Chilliwack, BC.
According to Webster’s Dictionary, a promontory is “a high point of land or rock projecting into a body of water” or “a prominent mass of land overlooking or projecting into a lowland” (Mirriam-Webster, 2016). This name is fitting as Chilliwack’s Promontory overlooks Cultus Lake and the Chilliwack Valley.
