Yarrow Elementary is named after the community of Yarrow.
When the British Columbia Electric Railway was completed, one of the last stations on the line was named Yarrow. According to the Mirriam-Webster dictionary, yarrow is “a widely naturalized strong-scented Eurasian composite herb (Achillea millefolium) with finely dissected leaves and small usually white corymbose flowers; also : any of several congeneric plants” (Mirriam-Webster, n.d.)
