Watson Elementary is named after Watson Road.
George Watson was born in 1874 at Jarvis, Ontario to Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Watson. His brother John Burton Watson was born in 1879, also in Jarvis Ontario. The brothers moved west with their parents in 1894, and took up a farm on what would become Watson Road, named for their parents.
George Watson married Bertha Knight, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Shelton Knight, in Carman Church on 9 Sept., 1908, and they had 4 children. George farmed on Watson Road from 1894 to around 1950, when he moved to McGuire Road. George passed away on July 27, 1951.
John Burton Watson was educated in Chilliwack and entered the teaching profession before returning to farming. John B. Watson worked much of his life as a milk tester at the Borden milk plant at South Sumas. At the time of his death in September of 1933 he was survived by his wife and six children.
