Lindeman Lake is named for Charles Otto Lindeman, 1869-1943, who lived on the north-west corner of Chilliwack Lake.
Lindeman spent nearly thirty years living, hunting, trapping and prospecting up at Chilliwack Lake. He built a small cabin, and became one of the best known and last of the men who went in to the hills and stayed there.
Lindeman was born on July 2, 1869 at Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He arrived around 1911, and continued to hunt his trap line until the spring of 1942, when a heart attack forced him to give it up. Lindeman came down from Chilliwack Lake in December of 1942, and spent the winter with his friends Mr. and Mrs. Carl Wilson. He passed away on January 2, 1943, at the age of 74 years.
